Struggling With Motivation To Lose Weight And Get Fit – What Are Your Excuses?
Be honest with yourself. How often do you come up with excuses for not getting into shape? Are they valid excuses or are they just that…excuses! Dont sabotage the chance of having a fantastic healthy, fit body to be proud of.
Any of these seem familiar to you?
BUT its easy for you because you’re not as busy as me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again! We all have the same 24hours a day. It is totally up to you how you spend those hours. All the things you are currently doing in your life are the sum of all the decisions you have made. For example, you chose to bring up children, you chose to work full-time so that you can have the nice things in your life, you chose to volunteer, you chose to .. because these things are important to you. However, without great health and fitness you can’t enjoy or manage these things very well.
BUT I’ll wait till the kids go back to school. This one is a classic that I get all the time when people are enquiring about training on-line with me. Kids now get around 7 weeks holidays at Christmas? You want to put it off that long? Sure, you might not be able to get to a gym (although many gyms have crches now), but you can still get outside and exercise or do it from home. Get the kids to join in so they are getting fit and healthy too. Chances are if you are putting your fitness on hold for 7 weeks you are going to have a whole lot more weight to lose and fitness to re-gain after 7 weeks of slothing about eating the wrong foods. In 7 weeks you can make a huge difference to your health and fitness
BUT… This time of year is so filled with social functions, it’s too hard to keep the weight off. Well, now is definitely the time you should be looking after yourself! Keep control of your weight by exercising during this time to counteract any over-indulging that might be going on!
BUT… I’m going on holidays soon, so I’ll just get into an exercise routine and have to stop. Why? Simply adjust the exercise routine to suit wherever you are going on holidays. For example, use the gym at the resort, or on the boat. Go for lots of powerwalks in the place you are visiting. Get up early and do your exercise program before you are due to go out on organised activities. Even better, why not go to somewhere like Club Med, where there are many fitness activities to participate in. Wouldn’t it be great, just for once, to come back from holidays feeling fantastic instead of overweight and bloated?
So why not make the decision to let go of all the ‘buts’ and recognise that they are just excuses. Take control of your health and fitness, it really is up to you. If you are overweight and unfit it really is a result of all the choices you have made, nobody elses. But the good news is that there are so many resources out there to help you, you just have to drop the excuses and take the first step!
